Description
The movement of water and reflections of light on the water’s surface was a motif that fascinated Anders Zorn. During summers spent on the island of Dalarö in the Stockholm archipelago, he depicted water with an almost scientific zeal, meticulously accounting for every detail. As early as the summer of 1888, Zorn made a number of studies of models at the water’s edge, which contributed to his international breakt-hrough. Here he made his own interpretation of a time-honoured art historical genre. Model on Beach is a sketch-like version of a similar motif, showing the encounter between nature and human being, in which the human figure appears rooted in the landscape.
