Description
Anders Zorn was a versatile artist who was famous for his exquisite portraits. In Dalarna, he depicted the local people in everyday and festive scenes, with a special focus on light effects. In the portrait Daleswoman he moves past 19th century folklore romanticism in order to focus on the person in the regional costume. The woman’s rosy cheeks bear witness of rough weather but also of resting by the hearth after the day’s work is done.
