Description
Art history contains a rich panorama of hunting scenes. Dramatic encounters between animal and human being have been depicted ever since predators and humans looked for prey among the clump of reeds on the Nile. The motif obviously appealed to Gustaf Werner who owned a substantial number of paintings with hunting scenes. Bruno Liljefors, who killed his first fox in 1877, was a passionate hunter and painted many versions of the hunt; here a hunter with his dog during a grey partridge hunt.
