Rachel # 3 is one of the powerful paintings of the 2012-2013 series All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Hannaleena Heiska’s work displays explicit influences from film (the weeping Rachel is to be found in the American 1982 science-fiction film Blade Runner). Rachael # 3 is a close-up portrait, reminiscent of a film still, a potent image full of tension and dynamism. The broad, sweeping brush strokes are executed in the technique “wet in wet”.
