Description
Portrait III from the series Altered States is a motif in Heiska’s series of dreamlike animals and figures. The figures are delicate creatures, sometimes with human features. Some are in the likeness of birds or, as here, a bat – representations from an otherworldly sphere. There are parallels to these peculiar motifs in the iconography of popular culture, tattoo and graffiti art, for example.
