Description
Ivan Ivarson is counted among the Gothenburg Colourists. Of these, he is the one who drives the colour to the highest, disturbing intensity, often with ample use of the primary colours red, blue and yellow. In this late women's portrait, the faint, moody colour tone is allowed to indicate the temperature and mood around the somewhat naively drawn woman's face. The eyes are in focus. The skin is yellowish. She has dark hair, red lips and a green robe with a shiny brooch. It was painted in Paris in 1938 and depicts Mrs. Werner-Sörensen. Folke Isacson bought it from her and donated it to the museum in 1952. Kristoffer Arvidsson
