Description
Öland Village is dominated by a powerfully painted, salmon-pink path. It takes us straight into the picture, but swings to the right behind a house of the same colour, so we cannot see where it leads. On the other side of the road is a village of huddled, almost fused, buildings in muted, greyish colours, and an Öland windmill. In the foreground a woman or girl is going up the road carrying a small child in red clothes, which is how Nilsson often showed her daughter dressed in her paintings.
